Bufflehead | Bucephala albeola | Conservation Status: Least Concern | BUFF

Recetly I visited a friend at a crossroad in his life. He asked me to capture a few images of his ten acre property near a popular lake outside of Dallas as the time has come for him move on after a decade of raising trees from seed. He’s an arborist and over the years a beautiful property has risen from once barren soil.

A pond surrounded by trees was providing refuge for a solo Bufflehead. I managed to capture a few shots as the afternoon light turned the water into a swirl of colors reflecting the love my friend has poured into the property over the years. The trees will continue their journey upward as he searches for a road less traveled.
