Baltimore Oriole | Icterus galbula | Conservation Status: Least Concern | BAOR
This Baltimore Oriole image is one of my personal favorite feather shots. It seems that more often than not my trophy shots come after a long journey afield; usually to a secluded habitat off the beaten path.
This shot is an exception as I was fortunate to cross paths with the Baltimore Oriole as it was building a nest immediately off a waterfront running path. Hundreds of runners and cyclist pass within a few feet of this tree on a daily basis. Sometimes the nature photographer must journey afield to secluded habitat to have a chance to add a career portfolio shot; other times the shot is waiting just around the next bend. Hopefully on your next expedition as you chase the light you'll manage a shot of your lifetime.
